OVERVIEW

Utilities Installed Right the First Time

Underground utilities are the phase where a schedule is most exposed. The trench is open, the inspection is pending, and every other trade is waiting. A backfill that fails density, an invert set to the wrong elevation, or a conflict nobody caught in the field can stop a project cold.

PEC installs utilities as part of the same site package that includes the excavation above it and the paving over it. Our layout crews stake inverts, our operators open and backfill the trench, and our testing crews verify compaction — so nothing waits on a subcontractor to show up, and no one is pointing at anyone else when an elevation doesn't match.

How We Execute Every Scope

01

Layout & Utility Coordination

Our survey crews stake horizontal alignment and invert elevations from your engineered plans. Existing utilities are located and conflicts are flagged before the trench opens.

02

Excavation & Installation

Crews open the trench with company-owned equipment, set structures and pipe to grade, and make connections to code. Because the same contractor handles excavation and installation, there's no handoff between opening the ground and putting something in it.

03

Testing & Inspection

Backfill is placed and compacted in lifts with density verified by PEC's in-house testing crews. Systems are prepared for the pressure, exfiltration, or video inspection your jurisdiction requires.

04

Restoration & Closeout

Surface restoration ties back into grading, concrete, or paving performed by our own crews. As-built documentation and test reports are packaged for agency and engineer review.

CAPACITY

EQUIPMENT & CREW CAPACITY

Utility Crews and Equipment We Own

PEC owns the excavators, loaders, compaction equipment, and trucking fleet that utility work depends on. Trench boxes and installation equipment are maintained in-house and staged from our Miami yard — so mobilization is a scheduling decision, not a rental availability question.

Professional Equipment Corp. is a full-scope site work and civil construction contractor serving commercial, municipal, industrial, and residential clients throughout South Florida since 2004.

PEC company-owned equipment fleet on site

Company-Owned Equipment

Excavators, loaders, compactors, and haul trucks maintained in-house and ready to deploy across Miami-Dade and Broward County job sites. No rental delays between your schedule and an open trench.

In-House Utility Crews

Installation crews on PEC's payroll, working to code and to your schedule. The same company that opens the trench backfills it, tests it, and restores the surface above it.

Underground Utilities — Common Questions

Common questions from general contractors, developers, and agencies about PEC's surveying, testing, and Maintenance of Traffic scope across Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

What utility systems does PEC install?

PEC installs water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and force main systems, along with the trench excavation, backfill, and surface restoration that surround them.

Does PEC perform its own trench backfill and compaction testing?

Yes. Backfill and compaction are performed by PEC crews, with density testing by our in-house testing crews keeping failed compaction on the same schedule as the work rather than waiting on an outside lab.

Can PEC handle utility work within public right-of-way?

Yes. PEC performs utility work in right-of-way with Maintenance of Traffic planning and implementation by our own crews, meeting municipal requirements across Miami-Dade and Broward.

Does PEC coordinate utilities with earthwork and paving?

Yes. PEC self-performs earthwork, utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving. When one contractor holds all four scopes, the trench, the backfill, and the surface above it are one sequence rather than three handoffs.

What areas does PEC serve for underground utility construction?

PEC works throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties from its Miami headquarters at 2900 NW 33rd Avenue, including Miami, Hialeah, Doral, Fort Lauderdale, and Palmetto Bay.
